SACRAMENTO – Sen. Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement on Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget for 2010-11. The Governor’s proposal included no state revenue options and drew heavily on cuts to health and human services (43% of solutions), the federal government (35% of solutions) and revenue shifts, fees or local revenue deferrals (23% of solutions).

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement on Governor Schwarzenegger’s State of the State address this morning.
“I appreciated the Governor’s reference to last year’s team work and the spirit of collaboration. He also demonstrated compassion in recognizing that any choice between cuts to programs for the poor, the sick, and our most vulnerable is cruel governance.

CALPIRG GIVES SENATOR CEDILLO HIGH MARKS FOR PROTECTING CONSUMER RIGHTS

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) received high marks in the California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG) annual legislative scorecard released just before the New Year. The consumer advocacy group rates legislators on key consumer votes each year; Cedillo has consistently earned “A” or high marks on the list for scores over 90 percent.

LOS ANGELES – Senator Gilbert Cedillo will host 1st Annual Ernie G’s Friends & Family Holiday Comedy Night at his alma matter Roosevelt High School. The evening of empowerment comedy, music and spoken word poetry will benefit the student association at the high school. The event will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Roosevelt’s historical auditorium located at 456 South Mathews Street, East Los Angeles. Tickets are $5 and proceeds benefit the high school.

LOS ANGELES - Senator Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement on Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) introduction today of the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009”:
